Teatro Kawagib

“The group indeed depicts the situation of children. I feel sorry for the children abused by their parents. It is time for the council to adopt the GSC Children’s Welfare Code. ”   - City Councilor Virgie Llido,  after Teatro Kawagib’s performance at the Children’s Forum

Teatro Kawagib is a youth theater group consisting of 15 youth members ages 15 - 25 from the Moro, settler and Indigenous tribe that creates original theater pieces that dramatizes negative living conditions of children - child abuse, discrimination, children in-conflict with the law (CICL), labor, trafficking and gangs - and elderly - in the hospital, home for the aged, family, barangay hall. They do so by creating original multi-discipline theater and performed them in various places – General Santos, Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat. Teatro Kawagib has 13 members with three different backgrounds: six Visaya, four Moro, and three of the Indigenous People (of the B’laan tribe). With mixed backgrounds, the theater group consciously reflects Mindanao’s Tri-people society and draws its drama from member’s real life and PASALI’s grass roots work.                               Download Teatro Kawagib's profile
