Agroforestry
Agroforestry is a Pasali Netherlands and Pasali Philippines joint intervention, interlaying rubber trees with System of Rice Intensification rice and corn crops. Pasali piloted 2 hectares of rubber seedlings in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat in 2010: 1 hectare for the Moro of barangay Wal, Palimbang and 1 hectare for the Manobos of Biao, barangay Napnapon, Palimbang.
The Department of Agriculture approved a proposal for 10 hectares worth of seedlings, and the Manobo's received the first batch of rubber seedlings last March 31, 2012. Four puroks (villages) of Biao will benefit of 5,000 seedlings. The massive planting of rubber trees will help these upland communities on their claim on ancestral domain, mitigate climate change and in the long run build economies for the IP’s in Biao.
