System of Rice Intensification

System of Rice Intensification is a set of principles for rice production based on use of “less water, fertile soil, healthier plants, greater root growth and the nurturing of soil microbial abundance and diversity” (CIIFAD).

All the principles of SRI zeroes in to root care. PASALI practices 8-14 days old transplanting, intermittent irrigation, wide spacing, soil fertilization using Guano (bat manure) in combination with minimal synthetic fertilizer, uses weeder, and chooses pest resistant native varieties.

How SRI mitigates climate change

With SRI, rice plants aren't submerged in water always, thus reduces greenhouse gas methane (CH4) and nitrogen (N2O)- two greenhouse gases that are respectively 25x and 310x stronger than carbon dioxide in holding global warmth.

Rotary Weeder

Co-designed with farmers, this light weight motorized rotary weeder, reduces the weeding time with the additional benefits of superior root aeration and soil conditioning. It weeds out a hectare in a day.
